The work will involve maintaining and improving the buildings and grounds at Sierra Friends Center, a non-profit, residential educational facility. Projects may include construction, repair, or painting of buildings on campus, or planting/weeding in the organic garden, or helping to facilitate permaculture projects on the property. There will also be work in the 200 acre forest

Location & leisure:
Nevada City, California, 1 1/2-hour East of Sacramento. Our site is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, and offers 230 acres of meadows, woods, streams and ponds. Our rustic cabins are nestled among pines and oaks, and provide an inspirational and tranquil setting. The site is 7 miles west of historic Nevada City in the heart of gold country. The local area offers museums, historic parks, theater, and music festivals.Leisure Activities: Those in attendance plan the leisure activities for the week. A trip to the Yuba River, as well as a skit night toward the end of the week is traditional. Other activities may include group singing, folk dancing, hikes, and/or stargazing among other possibilities.

Construction; building a large deck, gazebo, and outhouse. Volunteers will be nailing, moving materials, digging foundations, making beams and posts, using hand and power tools. We will gladly teach anyone basic construction skills.

Our work will involve the care, maintenance and improvement of the existing orchard, gardens, playgrounds, and the endangered species trail; cleaning, painting and organizing the school buildings; and basic carpentry and maintenance of the playground structures and various outbuildings. Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear.
Accomodation & food:
Two classrooms of the Grades school building which look out over the rolling property toward nearby mountains will be converted into dormitory space. The school building also has bathrooms and a kitchen where volunteers will prepare their own meals. Temporary outdoor showers will be assembled for the volunteers for bathing.

East Montpelier is 20 minutes drive from Montpelier Vermont, 1 hour from Burlington Vermont, 3 hours from Boston or Montreal. Requirements:
Absolutely no alcohol or smoking on school grounds. VFP s 30th anniversary event will be held on July 14th, volunteers will assist with this event and be expected to share information about volunteering and their countries.
Volunteers will tend to school gardens and assist with educational programming at a week long summer camp for children. Volunteers will also visit with local farms, educate about local food in the community, process and prepare fresh local food, and engage in a number of various garden projects.

Volunteers will work in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont while staying at a VT Farm House. Meals will be prepared by volunteers for themselves featuring fresh local seasonal ingredients.

Our main office is in Newport, VT and our work is generally within 50 miles from town. Northeastern Vermont is renowned for its outdoor recreation offerings including mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and more. Requirements:
Selected volunteers will be fluent in English, passionate about Local Agriculture and Education, and preferably have experience working in this field and with children. VFP Motivation form and phone/skype interview required.
Work will take place in the community of Pittsford at the McClure Public Library. Projects will include assisting with the summer reading program for children ages 5-12, the theme this summer is Dream Big Other tasks are gardening work around the library, painting a mural, upkeep and renovation projects, and creating an event or two for area teens. Volunteers should bring materials from their countries to share with the community.

Camp Betsey Cox is built on a picturesque Vermont hill farm in the Killington-Pico Mountain area, ten miles north of Rutland. Volunteers will be staying at Camp Betsey Cox. Meals will be provided there as well as a wide selection of camp activities.

We need workers to help disassemble old wood from 2 small barns, sort and stack lumber, assist with simple diffing and cement work, also helping in the organic gardens and orchard. Skills taught as we work together with a carpenter/boat builder supervising.

In a barn on cots, real food shared in a communal dining hall, lunches on work days prepared by a chef. Weekly access to laundry and full bathrooms. Tenting optional.

Old King Farm is located in a rural setting with archeological sites, next to Shaw Mountain nature Reserve, two miles from the quaint village of Benson and near the southern edge of Lake Champlain. STUDY THEME: Environmental conservation, history, sustainable agriculture, herbs and Eastern religions.

We request a sober workplace, smoking away from buildings and a midnight curfew. This is a technology free camp. Mixed age camp, older volunteers welcome
