Cochabamba has its central plaza "September 14th" that since the Water War of 2000 is characterized by various social and cultural activities. It is in this context that Red TINKU is active in the "Plaza del Agua" exposing information, educational workshops, holding exhibitions, fairs and film festivals, poetry panels, books forum, etc. This year in August, the Square "September 14th" receive hundreds of visitors through the summer so this will be a good opportunity to demonstrate the cultural and participatory potential of the people in the square.
ACTIVITIES:
Volunteers will support logistics to develop cultural events in the square. Raise awareness to the activities, advertise events and visiting media. Participate in the organization of cultural activities to be carried every day in the central Plaza 14 Septiembre.
LOCATION AND ACCOMMODATION:
The project is located in the centre of the city of Cochabamba in it's main square. Volunteers will be accommodated in the Social Centre "La Tinkuna" located west of the city of Cochabamba and 15 minutes from the central square "September 14th".
It is a new project of Red TINKU opened in January of 2014 that functions as an eco-social and cultural centre in Villa Busch, West Zone of Cochabamba, on the outskirts of the city. It has a public library and a hostel for volunteers. The project aims to sensitize the local population on issues of waste and promoting home gardens environment between neighbours.
ACTIVITIES AND WORK:
- Raise awareness through campaigns to recycle and reuse waste. - Build a room with organic material. - Environmental and educational support for children, youth and adult education. - In the evening cultural and educational activities will be held in the central plaza of Cochabamba.
LOCATION :
The project is located on the outskirts of the city of Cochabamba in Villa Busch, a popular zone in the Cochabamba area 15 minutes from the city centre.
ACCOMMODATION:
Volunteers will be accommodated in the same eco-social centre "Mama Juana” which features a small shelter for volunteers.
At the end of February and early March during Carnival and summer vacation, the city of Cochabamba and its suburbs have a lot of socio-cultural activity. For this reason the Red Tinku organizes meetings and cultural events and visits to places and alternative spaces. For the summer holidays in February 2016 we organize Days of Art and Popular Culture and community tourism alternative to consolidate new alternative spaces looking interculturality and interaction with the local population.
ACTIVITIES:
- Assist in the organization of the days of Art, Culture and Tourism alternative community. - Promotion and dissemination of cultural events. - Promotion of Cultural and alternative tourist areas of Cochabamba. - Participation in the popular pre-Carnival party. - Logistical support to Cultural events. - Participation of traditional Tinku Tours Alternative Community for areas near Cochabamba to enjoy nature and interact with the local population. - Tours the Carnival of Oruro (World Heritage site) and other locations.
LOCATION AND ACCOMMODATION:
Volunteers will be accommodated in the Cultural Centre "La Tinkuna" in the city of Cochabamba, and on a youth hostel in the city of Oruro.
