Sremski Karlovci is situated on the Fruska Gora mountain, just by the river Danube, in region of Vojvodina. It is a small, picturesque town with rich past and represents the centre of the Serbian culture and spirituality. At mid September it is hosting a traditional wine festival that gathers around some of the best wine makers of the region.
Work:
Volunteers will help in preparing the festival. Work will differ from decorating the festival site to preparing the venues before the concerts. Other work will include organising workshops and games, (depending on the volunteers, maybe even a performance!) for the local children during the festival, so creative ideas, artistic skills are welcome. See more about the local NGO at www.ekoloskicentar.org/pgv.
Accommodation:
in a hostel. Volunteers will have full access to the building. Lunch will be served at the nearby restaurant, while breakfast and dinner will be prepared by the volunteers.
Study part:
Volunteers will first have chance to get to know Sremski Karlovci. A guided site seeing tour will be organised. There will be an opportunity to visit Novi Sad, as well. All of that would not be enough without a hike around Fruska Gora mountain and visit to one of the best Mountain lodges on it.
Special remarks:
A guided site seeing tour of the town will be organised, as well as the trip to Novi Sad and a hiking tour!
Special requirements:
Volunteers with previous experience (or interest in) working with children are more then welcome. Motivation letter required!
Location:
Sremski Karlovci is situated at 11km from Novi Sad.
« I would recommend participating in a workcamp, especially with VAP, who ensured that I found a project to suit me and provided essential training for me in preparation for my trip. Being part of a workcamp really is a life-changing experience, oh, and it looks great on your CV! »
