This year photo-project has the title Street Photography . The goal of this workcamp is to reflect on the people we meet and on the events that happen to us, on the objects that surround us by means of photography. Every day is going to be devoted one topic: volunteers will have trainings and workshops by professional photographers; in the beginning they will learn special techniques used by photographers and then will put the acquired knowledge into practice. Coordinators will prepare different topics and participants will base their entries on them. Volunteers shall be prepared for walking a lot and working according to a flexible time schedule. In the end of the project participants with coordinators and photographers will organize the exhibition with their best photos which will be selected by professional judges. This exhibition will stay some months in the city centre of St. Petersburg after the end of the project.
Accomodation & food:
Volunteers will stay in the hostel In Touch in the city center of St. Petersburg (for more information on the hostel please visit its webpage at http://www.hostelintouch.com/). It is just 10 minutes on foot from the most famous street in St. Petersburg i Nevsky prospect. All the participants (max 12 volunteers) will live together in one room. You do not need a sleeping bag. Please note that there are no wardrobes and shelves in the room. Meals will be prepared by volunteers, products are provided. Visa-support is provided. Insurance is not provided.
Location & leisure:
Saint Petersburg is often described as the cultural capital of Russia. It is the northernmost city in the world to have a population of over five million. The Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Saint Petersburg is also hosts The Hermitage, one of the largest art museums in the world. The most famous Russian writers like Dostoevsky, Pushkin, and Esenin had found the inspiration here. Volunteers will undoubtedly find here inspirations for their photos too. Some excursions will be provided, for example to the Russian museum, museum of Dostoevsky and excursion to Peterhof or Pushkin, former residences of the Russian tsars.
Requirements:
Participation fee 150 Euro to be paid to on arrival. Motivation letter and 2-3 of your best photos are required. Please take your own photo camera and computer (and other stuff for taking pictures if needed).
