The Óbidos for Everyone workcamp comprehends several aims, such as, to develop intercultural learning through the interaction of campers from different countries, providing debate moments to measure the value of voluntary work on a community's appraisement. Promote cultural enrichment with visits to our region's highlight locations (Castle of Óbidos, one of the seven wonders of Portugal, monasteries, forts, the natural reserve of the Island of Berlenga, rich in species of sea birds and it's wonderful landscape, among others).
Work:
In this camp, the work of the participants will consist on preservation and maintenance of our local historic heritage, learn and utilize the whitewash painting technique on Óbidos village infrastructures (walls, buildings, waterfontains, etc) and some speleology proceedings to vertical ascend and descend, if needed.
Accomodation:
At the school´s gym on gymnastic mattresses and shower rooms, washing machine, kitchen, area for meals and social gathering, free internet access and wi-fi, local commerce nearby.

Leisure:
Volunteers will have the opportunity to enjoy activities in our coastal zone which is known for being one of the best to the practice of Surf and Body board at Baleal and other outdoor experiences. At some dinners, the exchange of gastronomic habits and traditions will be promoted with thematic meals.

Uva lies in the surroundings of the International Douro Nature Park, with an impressive set of dovecotes: there are several of them, they take on various shapes, and they have an unquestionable unique heritage and architectural value. Furthermore, they are situated in an agriculturally and historically rich village which integrates the Special Protection Area of the International Douro Nature Park. This is where the dovecotes' restoration works will take place. The main goals of this workcamp traditional dovecotes, thus preserving architectural heritage and passing down traditional construction techniques; to enable the discovery of the Miranda Plateau, a unique rural region, rich in natural beauty, biodiversity, culture and traditions; and bringing together the young participants and the local community, therefore promoting intercultural (urban/rural, international/national) and intergenerational (youngsters/the elderly) encounters and exchanges.
Work:
planned for the dovecotes' restoration will be cleaning it on the inside, as well as its surroundings; removing the walls' original coating; restoring the rooftop; preparing the new limestone coating and whitewashing the outer walls.
Accomodation & food:
Basic housing with electricity, hot water, shower, WC, kitchen, dining room, bedroom (equipped with bunk beds) and barbecue area. Meals will be prepared by all the volunteers, taking turns, yet always accompanied by a cook. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks, dinner, and night snacks will be provided.

Palombar is responsible for driving the volunteers from Vimioso to Uva and back (both on arrival/departure and during the workcamp, whenever needed).
Leisure:
there are several activities planned for the participants to get to know the beautiful local landscapes, the rich cultural traditions and the local community: helping villagers in their everyday tasks (watering the vegetable gardens, taking cattle to pasture, knitting, baking bread, etc.), trekking and hiking, bird watching, visiting the Miranda Donkey Centre, visiting the Algoso castle, visiting Vimioso, cinema nights, various games.
This work camp aims to awaken youth for the traditional building techniques and the surrounding built heritage. It is a hands-on-approach in ancient building techniques, specially raw earth (adobe, rammed earth, CSEB, earth plasters), fired earth as well as lime mortars and plasters. During the camp we will act in public spaces built structures repairing and maintaining. Cooperation, communication, self-esteem, problem solving, risk evaluation, leadership and decision making are competences that we will work together while building for and with the local community. The working environment is relaxed, in the heart of a strong artistic influenced city.
Work:
Learn and repair traditional lime plasters and paintings; Learn and experience about traditional handmade fired and raw earth brick production, clay preparation and application; Repair traditional terracotta brick structures (remove vegetation, cleaning and apply natural waterproof coatings); Learn about and repair rammed earth structures; Act to preserve raw earth plasters; Clening and organize working areas and tools used during the activities; Take part into a social inventory about a particular neighbourhood and public space needs to prepare future interventions.

Shared bedroom in a hostel style with shared kitchen and bathroom. Meals - breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner.

Montemor-o-Novo Bus Station, located at Carreira de São Francisco Street, between 8:30 AM and noon on 29th August.
Location :
MONTEMOR-O-NOVO (Évora District). It is located at 75 min. by car South-East of Lisbon and 20 min. West of Évora.
