Queer Cultural Association Sicily SICILY QUEER produces the 2014 International LGBT & New Visions Filmfest, 4th edition in June 5th-11th. Born in 2010, Sicily Queer Filmfest is the first international film festival "LGBT and new visions" in Sicily. Arises from the widespread application of thought and counter-culture, innovative, critical, and the need to represent a movement. Queer is pluralism of critical thoughts about the world of desiring subjectivity that represent a new idea of citizenship, social justice, rights and freedoms of the individual. Queer, in a cinematic sense, for us it is also everything - even if not related to LGBT issues - is unorthodox, independent, alternative from the point of view of poetry and languages, approaches production or distribution, not subdued to the logic market: in short, what we like to call "new visions". To be present during the week of the festival means getting in touch with cultural plurality, to live an international project full of ideas and new movies that involves a whole town, the university, the academy of fine arts, partener institutional directors from different nations. The festival week is full of activities that relate to the film festival and the parallel activities at the festival (summer school, queer literature, contemporary art exhibitions).

« I would recommend participating in a workcamp, especially with VAP, who ensured that I found a project to suit me and provided essential training for me in preparation for my trip. Being part of a workcamp really is a life-changing experience, oh, and it looks great on your CV! »
