The volunteers of the camps will be active about 5/6 hours a day with different tasks and they will be organized daily in two rotating groups. A group will take care of the activities at the Greek Theater (reception and order service 8.30 am-01.30 pm) while another group will take care of the activity at the Youth Hostel for the lunch organization and for the afternoon cultural activities dedicated to the actors (11.30am-4.30pm).

During the work period there will be a very strong sun so there is a risk of burns. In the evening, you will have fun in the pubs and in the most visited places of the town, which is full of architectural and naturalistic beauties. There will be games and entertainment to spend the evenings with the local group .... we will not get bored!

Work:
The volunteers will support the local group in managing the festival: preparation, restaurant, pub, cleaning of the area and other activities will be shared with the local volunteers. The work could be physically hard, but the environment is funny and easy going.

Volunteers will be host in a dormitory with beds situated inside the center. The volunteers will have to prepare their breakfast and will have lunches and dinners with the local volunteers, prepare by the popular canteen.

The project take place in the CSOA of Forte Prenestino situated in the popular disctrict "Centocelle" in Rome.Volunteers will have the opportunity to enjoy the differents activities of the festival, meet artists from all over the world. Do not expect to do a lot of activities in the center of Rome. Most of the actvities will be involve in Forte Prenestino Social Center.
Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: To be open minded and ready to live in an alternative community. Expect a basic accommodation (the dormitory is comfortable, the bathroom and shower are very basic) This project request a motivation letter and to sign an agreement to confirm the understanding of the project.
Volunteers will help the festival staff with the organization, building-up, dismantlement and running of the festival area as well as promotion of the event in nearby communities.The main work activities during the camp will be the preparation of the Reno Splash festival. Work will involve the mounting of the festival structures (the stage, entrance, stands and 1 or more moroccan tents that constitutes the bar and the dj set venue), as well as promotion of the festival via flyers/posters, distributed in the centre of Bologna and in nearby communities, the painting of signs and posters and many other manual and creative activities. During the 3 days of the festival, volunteers will have the opportunity to be bartenders, sound engineer assistants, camping rangers, and many more roles. If you love to deal with people and to work with your hands this is your camp! Photographers, graphic designers, video makers, painters, but also electricians, woodworkers, cooks, bartenders and creative and work active people are welcome. As you work in a festival, you should be prepared to work at morning or at night. Of course we respect your turns and timetables but this is not less than 5 to 9 activities.This work camp will host 7 international volunteers and will take part of this project also 4 or 5 asylum seeker.

LOCATION: Marzabotto is a little town in the Appennino mountains near Bologna (30km) and Florence (80km). It lies in the valley of the Reno river and it is full of green hills and valleys. It is famous for its resistance in WWII and was the site of a massacre of 770 inhabitants by the Nazi Army.
LEISURE:
The accommodation is located in the countryside but Bolognan thriving city life is near and easily accessible in your free time; or you could just chill out and visit some of the beautiful surrounding historical national parks.The weather will be warm but it can rain sometimes (we hope not).

PROJECT:
Montagna di Suono is a cultural association founded in 2008 which promotes music and arts in the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano area (the mountains between Florence and Bologna). We organize musical classes for kids and adults, concerts and the yearly antiracist Reno Splash festival, now in its sixth edition. The festival takes part in an expansive park in the town of Marzabotto (Bo) during 3 days. In the morning there are lively discussions in Debate tents, in the afternoon sports tournaments and activities and in the evening/night a range of live concerts and DJ sets. The main genre is Reggae but various others genres are in the festival (ska, hip hop, indie, latin, dub). A temporary Camping is constructed and available for visitors who want to stay for the whole weekend.

The festival was born to promote melting pot, social inclusion and anti-racism, the housing right for all, the improving of cultural and social conditions. The international volunteers group will help the inhabitants, the local volunteers and the association's partners to realize the event. Expecially the volunteers will help to ideate, organize and manage the educational activities for youngster. Childrens and kids of that neighborhood often live in socio-economic disadvantages and during summer, with schools closed, they have few opportunities to participate to community activities. The international volunteers will be always side by side with local volunteers of the "Banda dei Pirati Project" with experience in previous festival editions.
Accomodation & food:
Volunteers will be hosted at the "Space of Mutual Aid", a community squat that hosts a lot of social projects and the co-housing of tens of families from all over the world. Here there is one large apartment (130 square meters) entirely dedicated to the volunteers without distinction between males and females. There will be hot water in the bathroom. You can use the Wi-Fi in the building, but not in the room. The food will be prepared together by the volunteers and you can also eat vegetarian.

Work:
The workcamps will be also involve with activities in favor of the Community. We will clean a nice hiking trail that leads from the village to an ancient mill, also realizing the signs in English for tourists. We will also take care of the maintenance of the medieval garden, which is located close to the Castle of Rocca Sinibalda. Finally, we will be involve to agricultural work (harvesting aromatic herbs and vegetables) and we will prepare the Harvest Festival (14 July), an event organized in collaboration with the Tularu Agricultural Company. There are moments of relaxation (bath at Lake Turano, excursion in the mountains, visit to the city of Rieti), and with the local community, we will exchange, meet and learn together (workshop to learn how to make pasta, desserts and more).

The Municipality of Rocca Sinibalda provides its own spaces to set up a campsite. The volunteers will sleep in the tents, provided by the local host as well as the school canteen, where volunteers will have the possibility to cook with organic and local products.

Work:
WORK: The Feast is an event around the agricultural activities going along with a small festival, with music, workshops and events. All the following tasks will be done by the volunteers: - Helping for the harvest in Rocca Sinibalda on the 14h July(transportation to and from Rocca Sinibalda will be in the same day)- Preparation of the interior and external spaces in Tularù- Assistance in the kitchen, reaping and harvesting by hand during and after the party.- Public reception.- Collaboration with other local associations for social works like cleaning rural walks or others.Being an agricultural activity, the dates of the Feasts should be 19th,, 20th, 21st july, but they are not fixed in advance since they mostly depend on the weather. In case of bad weather, other tasks will be performed.

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD: the volunteers will be accommodated in the tents provided by the host or by the volunteers if preferred, close to the farmhouse where the local staff live. There is a compost toilet and a shower outside with hot water (from thermocompost), but in case of need is possible to use the internal bathrooms. The meals, vegetarian and not, will be cooked together with volunteers. The meals are mostly prepared with the local ingredients, and the base is pasta, rice, vegetables, spelt, eggs, potatoes, chicken and meat of the local cows.

LOCATION: Tularù is located on the top of Mount Ponzano, in a hilly/mountain (850 m, asl) area, quite wild. The nearest village is Calcariola, a 200 inhabitants countryside, at 5km away from the farm. Nevetheless, the nearest village where it is possible to find a bar and a small supermarket is Grotti, at 6km and 350 metres of height difference from Tularù.

EXTRA FEE:
The project is fully self-financed. However, a common budget to support the food costs for special needs will be done with the 20€ extra-fee that has to be given at the volunteers arrival.
