WORK: The volunteers will be involved in different activities. Manual work: mow grass, repair and secure the fence, wood and stone steps, rid the path of trees and greenery obstructing the walk, fix dry small stone walls and pave paths with local natural stones, integrating signposting; Garbage collection work along the paths of "Cammino di San Nilo"; Forest work like clean undergrowth and forest floor, prune branches and plants.

LOCATION AND LEISURE TIME: San Mauro La Bruca is a town and commune in the province of Salerno, in Campania, region of south-western Italy. It's located in the middle of Cilento, the sub-region which is home of the Mediterranean Diet and rich in biodiversity. It's integrated by the hamlet of San Nazario, where the ancient abbey that housed San Nilo was located. It's situated in the hills, but not far from the Cilento coast… so don't forget to bring your swimming suit! With less than 600 inhabitants and its breath-taking panoramas, it is a very exotic and unusual place to visit. The area is rural and inner, far from urban centres, but people are very hospitable and always ready for conversation… in a very nice dialect! TERMINAL: Rome and Naples

The park area where volunteers will work is in a state of neglect even though is the place where local youth uses to hang out the most. The first days of the workcamp will be dedicated to know the community of Atina and to prepare the area to be renovated. The volunteers will initially clean the area and repair some missing parts of stone benches in the park with different materials. The participants will cooperate to create together (natural installations, outdoor toys, pieces of furniture, information panels, etc.). When the work is completed, the project area will be cleaned. The volunteers will work 5 hours a day and they will have 2 days free.

The volunteers will be accommodated inside the park, in camping with services like kitchen, bathroom, showers, and a covered area with tents and mattresses. The camp is equipped with a wifi area, and it is in the center of Atina, so bars, banks, minimarkets, post offices are all nearby. Food will be vegetarian and most of the groceries will be purchased from local producers and farmers. Volunteers will be also invited to join for typical local organizations ad associations of citizens. On the first day of the workcamp, the "camp rules" will be shared with the group and expected to be followed throughout the whole duration.

Atina is a small, rural Municipality of approximately 420 inhabitants, in southern Lazio (same region as the capital, Rome). Atina is said o have mythological connections with the Roman god of Saturn. Saturn is also said to have taught these native people how to build houses, to cultivate the land and plant vines and to live together harmoniously. Thus he became known as the Roman God of agriculture and fertility The main attraction of the town is the historical center and the archaeological site. Hundreds of tourists visit the town not only for his history and monuments but also for the genuine tasty food and the untouched natural beauties that the town offers. PROJECT: The city of Pontecagnano is the third italian municipality since last year to host a district of the civil economy: a permanent laboratory of participation and experimentation inspired by the principles of a new economy capable of concretely improving the quality of life, through job creation, strengthening of social ties and environmental protection. Volunteers will be an active part of this process: they will meet local actors, receive and generate requests for the implementation of interventions, actions and projects, will be engaged in practical actions of socio-urban regeneration within the framework of the "Festival of the civil economy ", The first one organized in the city. They will also have the opportunity to meet other regional realities involved in civic innovation processes. LEGAMBIENTE LOCAL GROUP: Legambiente "Green Eyes" is a Legambiente local group based in Pontecagnano, a city in the south of Italy; volunteers started to be active 20 years ago cleaning a green area from rubbish and transforming it in a wonderful park with 100 urban gardens for old and young people, a small archeological area, a library open air, a wood oven and more. In this park we organize environmental activities for schools, events, workshops, shows. Two years ago we started also to manage the Green Station, an apartment above the train station of city. In this apartament we also organize a lot of activities for families, children, young and old people. Park and Green Station are two common goods ever open to citizens. International volunteers will give their contribution to the achievement of the objectives of the project. The main activities will be focused on supervising the public beach, providing assistance to the bathers by keeping the beach clean from garbage and documenting the quantities and the type of trash they find, empty the trash bins, coordinate the usage of the umbrella-beach holders and make sure they are in their places, clean the main dock of the city from the sand, help building up a small working space on the beach, organize a small workshop for children to raise awareness about the protection of the sea side and the environment as a whole, draw attention of inappropriate behaviour in the beach and boot up demonstrational as well awareness waking activities. They will be protagonists in the communication activities and will send an important message in favour of the environment. Volunteers will be engaged in work for 6.5 hours a day, for 6 days a week.

Board and lodging are guaranteed for all participants. Volunteers will stay at one of the local schools, where there will be bathrooms, showers and a kitchen. Participants will be asked to take their sleeping bag with them. The group will be responsible for preparing meals and cleaning the place. The organization will provide all the food that is needed. Public transportations are available for every day s movements.

Minori is a prestigious tourist destination in the Amalfi Coast. It is a small town that counts around 2.800 inhabitants and it is famous for being an ancient vacation destination for Romans. In fact, a well-preserved roman Villa was found in 1932 and now it s one of the main attractions of the place. This town is very famous for its gastronomic tradition as well, being the place where the production of pasta was born and became an art. Minori also offers a beautiful seaside, stunning landscapes, one of the biggest Basilicas of the area and its bell tower. Famous places like Amalfi, Ravello and Positano can be visited. Naples and Salerno are about 1-2 hours away.TERMINAL: Airport of Naples (closest) or the Airport of Rome. There are public busses that will allow participants to reach the final venue in Minori. From the Airport of Naples there is a direct bus service to the Amalfi Coast. The nearest train station is Salerno, from where a bus leaves to Amalfi, stopping at Minori. There will be two different work experiences: in the first, for four days, the children will live an experience of sharing with children and adults and the volunteers will have to take care of the arrangement of the camp and help the team in the kitchen and the activities; in the second, for seven days they will live an experience with young people with work to protect the forest and the environment.The work will be mainly in the morning, about 4 hours per day with three types of activities:1-Arrangement of the camp, taking care of the little vegetable garden and the water tank.2- Work in the wood: building tables with wood materials (the tables will be used to create in the wood a relax-area for the local people) and fixing or building footpaths.3- Cooking to prepare lunch with organic food coming from the nearby area4- Support for the creation of artistic and environmental laboratoriesIn the afternoon the participants will take part in special workshops in local small farms, workshops with local associations for taking care of the paths and small rivers.

The tents will be divided into girls and boys tents. Participants must carry their belongings in a backpack, as they will arrive at camp on foot. Electricity and hot water will be provided by photovoltaic and solar panels. The toilet is 2 compost toilets, made of wood. The food will be prepared by the volunteers, who will eat together in a big tent. Most of the food will come from local farms from the fair trade. The project takes place in a wood located in a local park called "Parco del Monte di Brianza", in a place called "Campiano" which belongs to the municipality of Valgreghentino (LC), in the north of Italy. In the past, this area was used for agriculture, but now most of it is abandoned: we can see abandoned buildings, woods, and fields. Invasive plants are growing avoiding the growth of the local ones.To reach the CRAZY-WOOD there's a gravel road or a footpath. (See the place in this map https://goo.gl/maps/YxwVEVgUnPE2) The closest village is Aizurro, a very little village with around 180 inhabitants. The closer place with facilities like shops, train station or other services is the village of Airuno. During the day there is some time for games and activities (for example tree-climbing, excursions, land art). Some evenings will be organized with "cultural nights", where one or more countries organize a dinner with the typical food and games and /or workshops to show their own culture. The rest of the evenings there will be moments at the fireplace, free evenings or some games in the darkness.

The volunteers will sleep in tents so they have to bring their camping mattress and sleeping bag, Participants must carry their belongings in a backpack, as they will arrive at camp on foot.
Volunteers will be involved in cleaning of the Pollina river from waste (mainly plastic) supported by neighbouring municipalities (Geraci Siculo and Bompietro), and in the cleaning and maintenance of public areas, streets and old public spaces, build fences and irrigation of planting areas. They will work along other local volunteers and workers of the public administration responsible for green area.In the afternoon, volunteers will work together to create an event/campaign to raise awareness about recycling and reduction of plastic consumption and decomposition time within the local community of neighbouring municipalities. This activity will support the ongoing initiative plastic free launched by the Environment Ministry and already joined by the municipalities.
Accomodation & food:
Accomodation will be in a school located in the town. Volunteers will sleep in the gym on inflatable camping mats provided. The school is equipped with a kitchen that volunteers will use to cook for themselves, food to be cooked will be provided by the campleader. Bathrooms with hot water showers are available inside the school.

During your free time you can hike in the mountains surrounding Geraci Siculo, there are a lot of beautiful walks. There are soccer and tennis fields. Geraci Siculo is very isolated, you can take a day off and go to Palermo or to Cefal u (to the seaside) with public transportation but be aware that there are very few bus a day and very often they leave early in the morning. Better to take a private local couch which costs can be shared among volunteers.

Work will be run in the little uninhabited island in the middle of the sea, therefore, is compulsory to be able to swim Volunteers will support natural reserve s staff in restoration of the flora with planting of new plants (this action is part of a thirty-year plan put in practice by Lipu), maintenance of existing vegetation (watering plants), maintenance of the protected area (re-building stone paths). Cleaning of the protected area (the area is subject to different marine streams that bring waste from the sea). Work will be done mainly in the morning and in case of wind or rain the work will be run on another day. Work can be tiring and hard due to hot temperature and Sicilian sun (hat and sunblock are compulsory).In the afternoon, volunteers will work together to create an event/campaign to raise awareness about marine litter and related-environmental disasters, reduction of plastic and the impact of incorrect waste management on seas.

Isola delle Femmine is an Italian town in North-Western Sicily, in the province of Palermo. It is next to the sea so volunteers can spend their free time at the beach, do water sports, snorkeling, etc... Isola is a coast-town close to Palermo and connected with bus/train. Palermo is a beautiful city where there are many sights and places to spend the free time.
