PROJECT: The aim of the workcamp is the arrangement of trails of the area, the mapping of slow mobility trails for tourism and the enhancement and the increase of integrated sustainable bike-train mobility. LEGAMBIENTE LOCAL GROUP: Legambiente local group Il Brugo was founded in the 90s when local people battled against the landfills of undifferentiated waste. From then it is committed to the recovery of territorial elements of environmental value, such as an ancient wash house in the town of Vertemate (CO). Still now the local group is active for the defense of biodiversity manages a Green Station riqualified used for environmental education to community. LOCATION AND LEISURE: A historic railway station in a territory rich in environmental and historical values, within a consolidated system of regional parks. The arena is rich about history and environment. A particular value are the lakes, not so far from Como and Lecco. WORK: volunteers will be involved in work of arrangement and maintenance of the territorial path around the Green Station. Moreover they help local group to monitor and map a path parallel to the railway line to travel by bike or by foot; volunteers will be asked to map this path by a photo reportage. PROJECT: The goal of the project is restoring the environment of some mining and forest areas of districts of Arbus and Guspini, and the Costa Verde costs that are part of "Dune di Piscinas- Monte Arcuentu" Natural Reserve, by renovating the walking trails and the watercourses, realization of rest areas, collection of waste and wildlife monitoring. The trails network will provide a valuable contribution to local schools for environmental education, and will promote practices of environmentally sustainable tourism. LEGAMBIENTE LOCAL GROUP: Legambiente Guspini serves a very important function for environmental education and culture in the mining areas. It runs the Center for Environmental Education and Sustainability (CEAS) in Montevecchio and performs environmental activities since 1996. The environmental education is the main purpose of the center with activities for schools. Currently, the Center is working with the municipal government of Guspini and Arbus for the construction of nature trails, the organization of voluntary environmental workcamps, the realization of workshops with the schools of the territory. LOCATION AND LEISURE: Montevecchio is one of the most ancient mining sites in Italy. It is located in the south west of Sardinia - in the Province of Medio Campidano – in the Natural Reserve Monte Arcuentu-Dune di Piscinas. It is 20 km far from the sea (Costa Verde); the beaches, the dunes of Piscinas and shoreline Scivu are famous because of their integrity and the coastal area naturalness. WORK: trails arrangements, realization of rest areas, cleaning of water springs near the village of Montevecchio, collecting trash on the beaches (Marine and Beach Litter) and wildlife monitoring, placing the CAI signs along the paths that lead to the coast from Montevecchio until the Piscinas beach. STUDY PART: during the workcamp there will be a course about territorial orienteering and cartography. ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: Volunteers will be lodged in a former school; it has 4 rooms with beds and mattresses, pillows and blankets; 12 bathrooms and showers. There are 1 kitchen, 1 refectory, 1 projection room, 1 multimedia room with internet connection, 1 classroom-conference room for 50 seats, 1 library supplied with text and video tapes on various environmental issues, one on the main film library film productions of Sardinia. LEGAMBIENTE LOCAL GROUP: The Legambiente Dora Baltea club takes its name from the river that flows through the Morenic Amphitheatre of Ivrea. All our activities are devoted to the preservation of the territory, either monitoring new industrial settlements or maintaining the natural balance by volunteers' work. We also partecipate to national campaigns such as "Cleaning the World" e "Alps Caravanning". We cooperate with some other local clubs engaged in similar activities and involving specifically young people. LEGAMBIENTE LOCAL GROUP: The local group Ecopolis was founded in 2005 with the purpose of raising the awareness of local community and tourists about the value of the natural, archaeological, artistic and cultural local heritage and spread sustainable and responsible lifestyles. They work a lot with the local community, mostly with children and youngsters, at school and on the streets. LOCATION AND LEISURE: The camp is orgaanized in one of the most important prehistorical sites of Sicily: the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pantalica, in the Nature Reserve of river Anapo Valley. It is located in the area of Sortino, a small town on the Hyblean Mounts, near Syracuse, Noto and the whole baroque part of South-Eastern Sicily. The planned excursions will take into consideration the treasures of our area: nature reserves, archaeological sites, and of course our wonderful beaches. WORK: Volunteers will be involved in different activities; with local volunteers they will enhance the local park dedicated to pets we created last year. Specifically: they will clean up the pets' park and furnish it with benches; will cut grass, branches and bushes to open up a new path in the nature reserve guided by a worker of the Forest Departmentand to promote the archaeological and nature areas of Pantalica, Anapo Valley and the Medieval Sortino working at the path system and welcoming tourists make them aware about the site they are going to visit and about the Legambiente organization and its activities. STUDY PART: volunteers will attend a workshop on local handicraft held by an expert artisan and aimed at the realization of a traditional object. (soaps, wooden baskets, stools, etc).A guided visit to the town with its surroundings and the nature reserve is included. WORK: The target of our workcamp is double: to enhance the local park dedicated to pets we created last year and to promote the archaeological and nature areas of Pantalica, Anapo Valley and the Medieval Sortino working at the path system and welcoming tourists.
Specifically:
-Volunteers together with locals will clean up the pets' park and furnish it with benches; -will cut grass, branches and bushes to open up a new path in the nature reserve guided by a worker of the Forest Department; -welcoming tourists, volunteers will fit a gazebo at the entrances of the Nature Reserve of Pantalica and Anapo Valley to welcome the users with some fresh orange juice (gently offered by local farmers) and make them aware about the site they are going to visit and about the Legambiente organization and its activities.

Volunteers will be involved in many different outdoor activities such as cleaning and maintenance of the path that leads from the village to the ancient ruins, signals and fences restoring, lands reclaiming, garbage removing. Volunteers will be working 6-7 hours per day under the supervision of local technical leader. Be prepared for physical work and hiking mountain paths every day Volunteers will also have the chance to meet the local community, participating in meetings and events and helping Sentiero Verde in hiking events. This workcamp is recommended for those who love nature, enjoy working outdoors, taking care of the environment and walking a lot. You must have a suitable mountain equipment: trekking shoes, backpack, windbreaker and raincoat, hat, working gloves, flashlight (preferably frontal), water bottle.

PROJECT: The Eco-Archaeological Park of Pontecagnano, born from the redevelopment of an abandoned place, is the perfect place to work to promotion of the territory, organic farming, environmental migrants, raising peace. In this place we will organize maintenance activities of the area, we will introduce volunteers to organic farming with work in the gardens, we will talk about food waste learning to cook without wasting and discuss how much these all affect our world. LEGAMBIENTE LOCAL GROUP: Legambiente Occhi Verdi local group has been active in the territory for about 30 years and has been running the Eco-Archeological Park for 17 years, subtracted from negligence and abandon thanks to a fruitful collaboration with the Archaeological Heritage Department. Since 2001 the local group has built and has been managing 80 urban gardens. LOCATION AND LEISURE: The Eco-Archaeological Park of Pontecagnano-Faiano rises on the ancient city of Picentia, extending for 12 hectares. Inside there is an archaeological excavation from the Roman era. Near the archaeological excavation there is an orchard, urban gardens and an Environmental Education Center (CEA). Pontecagnano stands at the foot of the Picentini mountains, is located halfway between the Amalfi and Cilento coast and hosts a particularly valuable Archaeological Museum. WORK: volunteers will be involved in activities of arrangement and maintenance of green areas and in agricultural works in the orchard of the Eco-Archeological Park. Moreover Legambiente local Group has been organizing the Saint Lawrence Festival for many year, a big event with music, food and people. PROJECT: Workcamp project in Vittorio Veneto is at the second edition. This international exchange aims at the adoption of the territory and taking care of it by the volunteers, showing the possibility of a new kind of slow and responsible tourism. For this reason we decided to take charge of the maintenance of trails and wooden street furnitures.
