Your host is the Umweltstation (”environmental station”) of Waldsassen. It is an institution that aims to educate people of all ages, in a non-formal way, about environmental issues. The garden is divided into various areas to creatively teach about topics such as water, herbs, forest and nature protection. It also offers guided tours, seminars and workshops. The “Umweltstation” is going to host its third workcamp now and very much looking forward to continuing the great experiences from last year.
WORK:
This year the “Umweltstation” will start a new project called “Intercultural Gardening”: The refugees in the town of Waldsassen as well as the locals are invited to come together, plant fruits, vegetables and herbs from all over the world and get to know each other. The first day of the project will be on May 31st and this action day will be prepared and carried out with the help of the international workcamp! You are welcome to enrich this day also with typical food from your country. Apart from this task, there will be various other jobs for you: planting, weeding, cutting, and maybe also some renovation work. In short: Support the garden wherever helpful hands are needed.
ACCOMMODATION:
You will be accommodated in a small flat, where you will have a shower and a kitchenette. The environmental garden will also offer you the possibility to cook, so don’t worry that there won’t be enough space!
LOCATION:
Waldsassen is situated in the northeast of Bavaria; the border to the Czech Republic is close-by. About 7000 people live in this picturesque town, which is known for the beautiful old basilica and its convent. The area around Waldsassen is quite rural and offers the possibility to go hiking and enjoy the landscape. Near-by cities to visit are Nuremberg or Hof.
You ll be working with your team for the Sozialstiftung Kopenick foundation, in establishments for people with disabilities. Daily working time is around 4 hours. The highlight will be a communal summer festival. Your main task will be helping to prepare for the festival. Here you can be creative and contribute your own ideas and interests, by doing things such as making decorations for the festival or running small musical or theatrical projects. During the third week, a day trip is planned both for people with and without disabilities.
Accomodation & food:
You ll be sleeping on mattresses on the floor at the Boy Scouts house in Alt-Tempelhof. During the week, lunch will be provided by the residence. You ll cook all other meals for yourselves.

Berlin offers a wide range of free-time opportunities for any time of day. In order to accommodate the many different interests of your team, you ll receive a Cityticket which can be used for all public transport across Berlin, valid for the duration of the camp.

International volunteers are invited to support youth work of this center:In the first week, there will be manual work to do. In the center of Erlensee will be created a new skate place for teenagers and the youth, for skaters, bikers, graffiti-artists and everyone who is interested to use this public space. Together we want to build an interesting place, which invites to meet all these different kind of people.In the second week, the summer camp for children aged 6 to 12 takes place. With your help, this playscheme will be an international experience for the local kids. Your task will include caring for the children and designing the week s program together with our team of volunteers. The summer camp starts in the morning and ends in the late afternoon. One of the program points is the collective cooking for lunch and we are looking forward to your contribution with international recipes.We will also welcome your propositions for our creative, artistic and sportive activities.Study part: Getting to know concepts of youth work, diversity of subcultures of youth in Germany.
Accomodation & food:
The participants will be housed in the local sports centre. Several sleeping rooms, bathrooms, a shower and a big kitchen where you can cook and eat together will be at your disposal. In the sleeping rooms you will find mattresses or camp beds, bottom bed sheets and pillows. No upper bed sheets or blankets will be provided, please bring a sleeping bag.
Location & leisure:
During both weeks, you will have the opportunity to join us for cultural excursions after the day s work is done. Together, we will visit landmarks, concerts and museums, and play a scavenger hunt through Frankfurt s city centre. In the weekend(s), you will have free time for your own expeditions.
Requirements:
After confirmation, you will have to sign a self-commitment statement in terms of legal protection for children and young persons. Please bring sleeping bag.
A variety of tasks await your help: With the group's two leaders, you will organize the kids' leisure activities and games at the village. On excursion days, you will accompany them on their outings and field trips (including a three day stay at the Rabenmoos Alp in the mountains, tours to nearby cities like Munich or Rosenheim, to an amusement park, or to a salt mine). You will also be in charge of cooking and preparing meals with the kitchen chef and the help of some of the kids, as well as help out with organizing the summer camp's accommodation. Some knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian could be helpful but isn´t obligatory!
Accomodation & food:
Your home in the children's village will be a community house, equipped with sanitary facilities and a kitchen. Accommodation is in two shared rooms on sleeping mats. Please bring your own sleeping bag!
Location & leisure:
Irschenberg is a municipality in the German state of Bavaria, about 46 km southeast of Munich. The region with its alpine landscape attracts many tourists all over the year. Enjoy the beautiful nature and be active with various outdoor activities. You can also visit Munich and Rosenheim or relax at one of the lakes in the region.
