Are you interested in theatre, music, dance, performances? Then this is the camp for you! For the 10th time the exciting summer event “International Theatre Festival on the River” is taking place in Frankfurt with quite a diverse cultural program (www.protagon.net).
We transform the Main river bank at the Weseler shipyard into a place of discovery, enjoyment and inspiration. The program for this festival is extremely full: national and international theatre acts in public spaces, live music-singer songwriter program in the cozy Bedouin tent, poetry slam, reading stage, outdoor movie theatre, a cabaret room, workshops and training opportunities, the unique headphone disco with the renowned DJ’s, a flea market and naturally delicious food and drinks.
Where you will be helping:
Transforming it from a bare space to a festival. The cocktail bar, beer garden, Bedouin tent and stage all need to be built. You will also be helping during the festivals behind the scenes, for example artist support, catering, headphone disco, sound effects and lighting…and of course at the end of the program we need to take it all down. During the festival you will be working 7 hours per day and you will get a really good feel for the atmosphere and the program site.
The festival will be organized by Antagon theatre, an independent Frankfurt performance theatre. Life and work are very closely connected here: Antagon works with performers from all over the world, with the means of physical theatre, the sensory perception, the voice, expression through dance, acrobatics, stilts, improvisation , music, fire and stage designs. Their performances will not be held in theatres but rather performed in the streets-worldwide! Theatre should take place in public spaces, available for everyone – not commercialized.
Free time:
You will live together with the performers on the grounds of the Antagon theatre in Frankfurt, 20 minutes away by tram from the Frankfurt central station. In this workcamp community and togetherness are very important and are seen clearly during this festival: You can celebrate, dance, cook, move, and be amazed…you can also make trips to nearby cities such as Mainz, Cologne and Heidelberg.
