You will work at the "Bric a Brac" with the compagnons of Emmaus and volunteers. This will involve recycling, sorting, renovating, and selling many different objects.

You will stay in tents on the site of Emmaus Escalquens. You will have access to a bathroom and showers. You will share meals with the Emmaus compagnons.

You will interact with young locals and decide together on what to do during your free time.Escalquens (6000 inhabitants) lies at the gates of the Laurageais area, nestled among sunflower-covered hills and small, charming houses. In this beautiful setting, you will find a bridge from 1772, a pink brick castle from 1568 and a 14th-century church. At the Cousquille crossroads, you will discover local shops and the Sunday market.During your days off, you can reach Toulouse in less than one hour by bus. Toulouse is a beautiful, innovative, cultural and dynamic student city famous for its rich heritage.In the surrounding area, you will also get to discover villages, castles, and wine estates, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage site, "Canal des Deux Mers."

They have often experienced professional or social difficulties related to their age, health or unstable situation.You will share the same space as the compagnons, and therefore the same rules will apply to you. You will work mornings and afternoons (about 6-7 hours a day), help cleaning the space. Your days off will be Sunday and Monday. During the day, you will share the compagnons schedule, and you will have time to mingle with the other volunteers in the evenings. Visitors are not allowed outside working hours, and alcohol is forbidden on the premises without exception.Consider taking work clothes and shoes (waterproof if possible, in case of rain). Bring a warm sleeping bag and a good camping mat (for sleeping in the tent); nights can be chilly and wet. Tents will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Do not hesitate to bring activities from home, such as photos, games, musical instruments, food etc.Foreigners from the European Union must bring their personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and all participants must bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise during the program, volunteers will need to cover all costs; they will be reimbursed upon their return to their home country.

The workcamp consists in the rehabilitation of a part of the rampart between the towers number 8 and 10. You will maintain vegetation around the towers, weed plants and herbs, carefully list the stones, reconstruct and solidificate the identified parts of the fortification!

Pompey is 10 minutes away from Nancy, city of the Duc Stanislas and his mythical Square Stanislas, considered as one of the top 5 most beautiful square in the world! It is 1h30 away from the capital, Paris, by high-speed train. The workcamp is just next to a tree-climbing park and other leisure activities. Come and enjoy the contacts with the local associations and inhabitants !

You will restore a small dry stone wall that supports an enchanting path. You will work side by side with other international volunteers and a specialized team leader who will accompany you through the art of dry stone !

The site is located in the heart of the verdant Rupt Valley (river) of Mad, a tributary of the Moselle which has carved the Lorraine limestone plateau. Lorraine is an ancient cultural region. Historically, the Lorraine was a frontier territory between the French and Germanic entities and consequently the theater of major military conflicts. Today, marks of this history that are still visible. The multimillennial city of Metz, with its vast and varied architectural heritage, is only a few kilometers from Rupt de Mad. Close to the accommodation is you will find the Lake Madine, the largest lake in the region and important recreational area with, among others, two beaches for swimming.

In partnership with the municipality of Porto-Vecchio, the works to be carried out consist in the creation of community gardens : in a solidarity garden, we sow, we plant, we harvest, we grow our garden but we also cultivate friendships, share, solidarity between neighbors and inhabitants of the city or village. You will be in charge of diverse envronmental tasks such as raking, weeding, building wooden planters, planting vegetables, etc.You will also participate in building dry stone walls. You will collect the stones, install foundations, learn traditional construction techniques, etc.
Accomodation & food:
The accommodation takes place in a hard wall accommodation, next to the worksite (Campsite or Villa). 2 or 3 bungalows (depending on number of the local youth volunteers) will be made available during the workcamp. Every bungalow is composed of two bedrooms (a bedroom with a large bed and another bedroom with 2 small beds), toilette, a shower, and a small kitchen.It is likely that the place of accommodation will be changed (but, it remains in a hard wall accommodation) this is why we ask all participants to go exclusively to the fixed meeting points.Meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are taken together, a group will be formed to accompany the camp leader to purchase of food (shopping), other groups will be formed to prepare meals. The choice of meals to be prepared is done by the designated group,however, the group will consult with every other volunteer to take into account, for example, intolerance to certain products or ingredients.

Restaurants line the narrow streets of the city and the main square, the Republic Square. Among the famous beaches located not far, we can mention Palombaggia and its stretch of sand surrounded by pine trees, or Santa Giulia, whose waters are reminiscent of those of a lagoon.
