Come help us create an environment and heritage themed scavenger hunt for the associative youth hostel Les MIJEs in the heart of Paris! For two weeks in august, you are invited to participate in the elaboration and testing of a new scavenger hunt project that would have the goal of educating adolescents visiting the MIJE Hostel around the themes of the environment and heritage in central Paris. The goal would be to make sure visitors get acquainted with a more broad, alternative, and more environmentally conscious view of Paris than what any tourist would see, while also educating them around the city's history.
Accomodation & food:
You will be housed in the Mije youth hostel, at the heart of the renowned Marais neighbourhood. Breakfast will be provided by the hostel. As for meals, we have partnered with the TEP (Popular Ecology Land), who will provide us with a kitchen in which you and the other volunteers will take turns cooking. The camp leader will have a budget for food, and you will take part in grocery shopping with them. This year, through our partnership with the TEP, we have also decided to take an anti-waste and organic approach for food, so we will organise rounds of food salvaging from local organic supermarkets to use their unsold goods. Complimentary food will also be bought in those supermarkets.
Location & leisure:
The MIJE hostels are situated in the heart of Paris, in the famous Marais neighbourhood, which is known not only as a great historical neighbourhood, but also the centre of Parisian queer life. You will be taken on a day trip around the touristic attractions of Paris, and will have ample free time on the weekends and during the off-work time to experience the different attractions offered by the Paris city, museums (for example the Centre Pompidou that is within walking distance of the hostel), touristic walk trails, shopping, cinemas, iconic cafés, etc. etc. You will also be able to spend time exploring the TEP and other alternative/associative hotspots of the area.

« I would recommend participating in a workcamp, especially with VAP, who ensured that I found a project to suit me and provided essential training for me in preparation for my trip. Being part of a workcamp really is a life-changing experience, oh, and it looks great on your CV! »
