The work will be to assist in organising a local event called National OldPowerdays 2017. There will be about 20 000 people visiting the happening during three days. The volunteers will assist in practical tasks in arranging the event, e.g. arranging a cafe, selling refreshments and tidying up the area afterwards. The volunteers must be prepared to do different kind of work in various weather conditions. There will be hard work, but also lots of fun with locals and other volunteers. The aim of the camp is to give the volunteers a chance to experience Finnish history, nature and culture and enable the local young people to meet youngsters from other countries.

The camp language will be English.Oulainen is a small town, about 7800 inhabitants. It s about 100 km south from Oulu and about 550km north from Helsinki. Various summer activities such as swimming, swamp football, playing games, excursions to nearby sights and fishing are possible.

The volunteers will assist in various tasks such as painting and repairing furniture and tidying environment. The volunteers will also organise social activities with the locals such as an international playday for local children and young people.

Accommodation will be in the local youth house on mattresses, the host will provide bedsheets. There are showers and kitchen in the house, volunteers will prepare some meals themselves, lunches are usually provided in work places
Location & leisure:
The location is Kauhajoki (www.kauhajoki.fi). The area is beautiful with lakes and nature, you can go swimming or rowing. There will also be some visits and excursions to local sights. Volunteers can experience peaceful Finnish nature at its best.

The volunteers will restore circus tent, circus wagons, exhibition room, furniture, bicycles, establish and keep a herb garden and do various other manual tasks such as garden works. The volunteers will also assist in their small coffee shop, flea market and other events. There will be plenty of work opportunities for everybody.
Accomodation & food:
Holken camps will take place in the surroundings of two old (built in 1886 and 1931) schools in a small village. You can find old buildings, sauna, exhibition building, circus tent and circus wagons as well as a small coffee shop and flea market in the compound. The volunteers will be accommodated in a basic guest room and summer room on mattresses on the floor. It is possible to stay overnight in a tent also. The volunteers will cook and eat in the old school which has good kitchen facilities.

Holken camp is situated in the Southern Finland, 55 km from Helsinki to west. Inkoo is a small community by the sea and is located within beautiful archipelago and nature. The nearest small towns are located about 20 km from Holken. The nearest lake is about 7 km and grocery shop is about 3 km. Inkoo centre with grocery shop, cafeterias, and harbor is located from 5 km from the camps. There are bicycles in the camp. The volunteers can also go to forest to pick mushrooms, wild herbs and berries. The camp hostess is a biologist who will organize one evening activity related to food from forest. There will be a possibility for camp fire and artistic performances as well.

The school is situated in a location of superb natural beauty, right on the magnificent Punkaharju ridge. It is surrounded on both sides by lakes and magnificent scenery. The area offers excellent opportunities for nature and outdoor activities. The volunteers can also attend some Finnish language and culture lessons as well as join excursions to local sights.

You will have a chance to get to know two totally different assignment fields. During the first week participants are taking part of organizing big summer events; a concert and an annual fair. There are many kinds of tasks that need to be done before the events, for example building the stage and fences and decorating the area. During the second week you have a possibility to explore Finnish nature while repairing hiking trails and taking care of the local hiking area.

The accommodation will take place in a local youth house. There are two kitchens and a shower. There are no actual beds available but you are provided comfortable mattresses for sleeping. Participants will prepare most of their meals with changing teams.

The most common way to travel to Kuortane is to fly to Helsinki and take a train to Seinajoki (about 300 km, 3 hours). It is approximately 30 kilometers from KuortaneKuortane area is a very beautiful piece of Finnish countryside. The house is located near the local center. There is also a beautiful lake and a nice beach for swimming nearby.
