Alliksaare Farm main direction is cattle farming. The main work for volonteers will be to take care and maintain the pastures located at the sea coast. The work mainly consists of doing various gardening jobs in the green areas on the large Zoo territory: clearing and tiding up, mowing grass, cutting bushes, planting flowers. Most of the work will be outdoors. In case of rainy weather alternative work indoors will be found. The work is planned for 4-6 hours a day. Please note that the work does not include direct contact with the animals.In addition to this there will be some light renovation and cleaning jobs in the youth centre house, where volunteers are going to stay.

You will stay in the Mustamae Open Youth Centre in the residential area of Tallinn. It takes about 20 min by bus or trolleybus to get from there to the city centre and around 15 min to get to the Zoo. Volunteers will have one big sleeping room, common room, equipped kitchen, shower and toilet. There is also shower in the Zoo which can be used after the work. You will sleep on mattresses on the floor. Please bring your sleeping bags Volunteers have to prepare their own meals for breakfasts and dinners. Lunches will be taken together with the Zoo gardening staff at the working place.

Special requirementsNo special skills required, but you have to be ready for some physical work. This camp is not suitable for volunteers allergic to hay or plants. Obviously, program involves a lot of extra costs for excursions, trips out, visits, sport activities, equipment and general administration. Since neither EstYES nor its local camp partner, does not receive sufficient financial support for this camp from municipality or private sources, to realize this camp we have to charge participation fee of 250 Euro, which has to be paid by participants upon arrival to the camp or by bank transfer in advance. The work will involve mainly cleaning up/ recovering of the hydro power station canal and the banks of Koesti creek. This means a physical work like removing mud, stones, branches of trees, etc. Volunteers have to bring rubber boots. Also there may be clearing up of the green areas around the mill and occasionally simple conservation jobs in the building (e.g. cleaning the walls before painting). Volunteers will be working 7-8 hours per day 5 days a week under the supervision of local technical leader.
Accomodation & food:
The accommodation facilities will be quite simple: you will stay in the mill house in camp beds. Please bring your own sleeping bag. Please note that the shower is a primitive outdoors solar shower, and there is dry toilet only. But you will have a good chance to try Estonian sauna on weekend. Simple but healthy traditional local food will be prepared by the hosts, volunteers will be asked to help cleaning and washing up. Possibility of making own food is limited.

Because of the huge amount of work that needs to be done for the sheep every day, some of the cleaning and organizing jobs have been left aside. Recently farm has grown spreading to the neighbouring land with its few buildings which stay in not a good shape, so cleaning of these buildings is really needed and help of volunteers will be very much appreciated. There will be also some gardening and mowing. Work will be supervised by local hosts. The work will be 6-7 hours a day, 5 days a week, mainly outdoors.
