The aim of the Work Camp is to help create the best possible building festival.
Week 1:
During this week, the volunteers will be setting up the festival by sorting wood, moving materials around and making signs and decorations for the festival. You will also be working in the building area, bar, outdoor kitchen, dishwashing area, toilets, sleeping area and the music stage. In this week, the volunteers will take turns in cooking for each other.
Week 2:
During this week, the festival will take place. You will be working in different areas of responsibility. You will be checking tickets in the "check-in zone," assisting in the kitchen, working with kids in the "kids zone," and assisting in the "tool shop." The festival will also need one or two volunteers to work with taking photos and videos for social media posts. Note that all festival guests are also assigned to a minimum of one volunteer shift (bar shifts, kitchen shifts, toilet maintenance and cleaning shifts), as the concept is a co-creating festival.
Week 3:
During this week, you will be taking the festival apart, and cleaning up the festival area. Ground's focus on zero waste and sustainability means that you will be saving building projects for next year's festival. Further, you will be evaluating the Work Camp stay and the festival in general.
Accomodation & food:
Accommodation:Everyone should bring a minimum of a sleeping bag and a pillow. From experience, we know that some people might not want to stay in tents due to temperatures (normally ranges 10-25 degrees celsius, with few days of heavy winds). Therefore, there will be an option to borrow a mattress and sleep inside in a big room with others. Most people will be sleeping in tents - festival style! We recommend that you bring your own tent. We will try to get tents for everyone who wants one but we can't make promises before we know how many need one.
Food:
Everyone will take part in cooking, according to a plan we decide on together, as part of the work you will do during your stay. During the festival, we will have food served three times a day (all vegan/ vegetarian). We all clean together.
Bathroom Facilities:
We have washing machines for free, kitchen facilities, toilets and showers. We encourage everyone to swim at the beach located a few hundred meters away.
Location & leisure:
The festival is located by the sea (with their own sandy beach), in the countryside, but only five kilometres from Ebeltoft – a lovely small city known as a great tourist destination. In your spare time, there are many things to do and see, and you can borrow a bike to explore the surrounding area. Some days it might be possible to borrow a car to take a trip, maybe to see Mols National Park or Denmark's second-largest city, Aarhus (45 minutes away by car).Your Work Camp leaders will help you and the group with organising activities in your spare time. It is free to enjoy the beautiful nature of Ebeltoft, but some activities might require an extra charge. The host will not cover additional charges.
