Rajapachanukroh 53 School is a school for disadvantaged and poor children in the country side of Sakon-Nakhon, Thailand. The school is under the royal foundation and offers education, food and accommodation for the children that have no parents, to children from poor families, and to children from very remote areas. They can come and stay at the school from the primary (7 years old) to high school (18 years old). They are staying at the school with the teachers, so we are offering them not only education but also good living conditions and opportunities. Primary school Thai students will thus have a big chance to communicate with foreigners. This will help destroy their shyness and let them become used to foreigners and the use of English. After many camps done in the primary schools, the students are getting used be with foreigners and some dare to speak out. We need to keep continuing giving them a chance to meet and share with international volunteers. We hope one day the students from the rural areas will have more confidence to speak English and to be around foreigners, as well as to have more understanding of cultural diversity in a similar way to that of students in big cities. No more knowledge gap!

« I would recommend participating in a workcamp, especially with VAP, who ensured that I found a project to suit me and provided essential training for me in preparation for my trip. Being part of a workcamp really is a life-changing experience, oh, and it looks great on your CV! »
