Work: The work involves assisting villagers in executing the Cultural Experience Program, and also conserving the village by cleaning and repairing old houses. Volunteers will have opportunities to experience traditional Korean culture. Location: Visiting historical museums and park. Volunteers will experience traditional games and activities. Opportunities to meet local children during Inter-cultural Camp for kids. Partner: This project is organized together with Gaesil-Village since 2007. This town is proud of their deep historical root which begun in 42 AD. Gaesil-Village was named after the beautiful blossoms and valleys in its area. It was farming community and well-known for Han-ok which is traditional Korean style house. Currently, the village provides Korean traditional cultural program and opportunities to experience farm life for visitors and tourists from urban areas. Due to its rapidly aging village, the aim of this project is to boost life and promote the village as an international village through workcamp with international volunteers. Work: We will mainly work for ¡°Beautiful Factory¡±, which producing new product with recycling resource, or idea from the shape of second-hand materials. Volunteers will be involved working process of recycling, gathering and disassembling second hand material, making new product with them. Location: Learning how to use variety tools. Making workcamp own creature. Partner: IWO has organized workcamp together with Beautiful Store organization in 2007. The organization mainly works to promote re-use and recycle products by selling second-hand goods. In 2007 we concentrated on renovation of an abandoned school, and it became new organization named ¡°Beautiful School¡±. The philosophy of the school is recycling second-hand goods and actively making new products with creative ideas. This year ¡°Beautiful School¡± is planning to begin ¡°Beautiful Factory¡±. The aim of this factory is mass production of recycling material and giving a labor opportunity for poor immigrant women. Workcamp is the part of this project to support this factory. Work: We will mainly assist artists who will create art products from natural resources such as stones, wood and mud. Most of the activities will take place outdoor in Gongju Fortress Park. Volunteers will be able to relate nature and art through helping and associating with the international artists. Location: Visiting historical place. (Temple, museum) Partner: Organized together with ¡°Yatoo¡± since 2006. Yatto is the name of Korea Nature Art Association that studies nature art. The meaning is to ’throw in the field¡¯. Every two years, they planned <Geumgang Nature Art Biennale>, which is an international nature art exhibition in Gongju. More about 60 artists from around the world participate and creat art prodections that represent harmony with nature. And international volunteers living together with them, and learn from each other. Requirements: Interest in art. Should be highly motivated and have physical strength. Accomodation and food: The camping in beautiful forest. (Good sanitary facilities will be prepared in camping place) / Meals are prepared.
Work: Volunteers will mainly assist artists to prepare for the festival like site management and decoration. Volunteers will be involved in preparing materials required by artists and installing the final work onto the site. It can be special opportunity to communicate with young artists through this project. Location: Camping in beautiful beaches nearby Partner: This workcamp is organized together with Busan Nature Art Association(BNAA) from 2009. BNAA is a young artist network in Busan- the second largest city in Korea. The artists of BNAA are hooked on displaying their works outdoors. BNAA opens the Flower Village Nature Art Festival every year since 2005. The Flower Village is a natural recreational forest which is loved by citizens as a trekking course. After the festival, most works of the artists remain and visitors are free to visit. The aim of this workcamp is supporting the festival in various ways and sharing the art of nature with local people. It can be a unique experience for the volunteers joining this project. Work: Volunteers will be involved in various activities related to the promotion and conservation of Geomunoreum together with the local community. Holding campaigns for visitors to the sites, having educational activities with children from local school, and other activities to raise awareness will be done. WHV Seminar will also be organized by volunteers to promote and conserve the natural World Heritage Sites. Location: Camping at beach. Hiking Mt.Halla Partner: This workcamp is organized together with local NGO called JSPSEP (Jeju Solidarity for Participatory Self-government and Environmental Preservation) since 2009. The main local partner JSPSEP executes environmental activities in Jeju Island. JSPSEP¡¯s main programs involves managing education program to training tour guide for Geomunoreum heritage site. Geomunoreum heritage site was designated as World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO in 2007. The Geomunoreum lava tube system and volcanic features demonstrate a distictive and important contribution to the understanding of global volcanism. The main aim of this workcamp is to raise awareness about the importance of World Heritage with international volunteers. Requirements: Interest in world heritage and nature. Should bring the case of World heritage from each country and present in WHV seminar. Accomodation and food: The community center in town / Cooking by volunteers.

Work: Volunteers will participate in Buddhist camp and organize intercultural programs for youths staying at the temple. Cleaning and conservation of temple is one of the simple activity for temple stay. Location: Hiking Duta.Mt and swimming in the Mureung valley. visit Buddhism kindergarten to play with kids for one day. Partner: This workcamp has been organized together with Samwha-sa (a Buddhist temple) since 2005. Samwha-sa was built in the 9th century as the symbol of united ancient Korea and peace. Samwha-sa tries to let people know about Buddhism, so they have various Temple stay program for all ages and cultures. Anyone interested in Buddhism can experience temple life, meditate, and eat Buddhist meals. The temple is located in Duta Mountain which is very famous for its beautiful Mureung valley. The aim of this project is experience Buddhism with local youth and exchange different culture of international participants. Requirements: Interest in Korean temple and Buddhism culture. Have respect for temple rules and should enjoy playing with youth. Accomodation and food: traditional temple guest-house / only vegetarian food will be served.
