Culture needs dialogue and dialogue needs culture. Countries, regions, peoples and communities are becoming more and more intertwined and interdependent. We can no longer cut ourselves off. Cultural exchange contributes to mutual understanding between societies and peoples. Understanding other cultures can prevent prejudice and hate. Cultural exchange also enriches our own lives by inspiring new forms of artistic expression and providing fresh insights that broaden our horizons. Cultural exchange and activities can exercise a more powerful influence than military task forces or political delegations. Culture is basically habits, traditions, sport, festivals, dance, food and language. It varies from region to region, by exchange of culture, community get to know each other better and possibility of having better relationship with other community. It is possible to improve social and economic relationship with that community by cultural exchange. This project therefore has been organised to provide an opportunity for local community members in Parakuyo Maasai Community and International volunteers to exchange culture in order to understand social, Political and economic realities of the world.
Activities:
A series of activities has been organized as follows
- Community service - Renovation of local Primary school building, to provide conducive learning environment. - Cultural presentation - Volunteers from different countries/cultures will make presentation of their countries as well the local Maasai tribe community. This will be done in a form of songs, dance, workshops, cultural tours, participating in ritual ceremonies. - Debates - This will be organized in partnership with Local secondary school to provide a forum for history students to learn more about the world. Topic/Motions for the debates will be decided on arrival. - Sports & Games - Organizing sports and various games with children in the community. - Note - The project is supposed to be vibrant with a good number of volunteers from Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, North and South America, in this regard the schedule is very dynamic… be flexible for extra activities.

Accommodation:
The volunteers will be hosted in local guest in the community. There are adequate sanitation facilities. Food will be provided as well and volunteers will share cooking in turns with a support of a local kitchen staff.
Language:
Kiswahili is the National language spoken by most Tanzanians. Knowing a few words and phrases of Kiswahili is highly appreciated by the locals. In the projects people will be able to communicate in English. A large number of people in Tanzania are able to conduct a basic conversation in English. It is very important that volunteers can communicate at least basic English in order to benefit from the project activities.
Requirements:
You should have a lot of imagination, initiative and you shall like cultural activities like arts, sports, singing, dancing, drawing, painting etc. You should have a lot of patience to work with children. Plenty of enthusiasm and energy.
Camp Fee & Finances:
Participation fee:
250 Euro (Non-refundable) to be paid on arrival. The fee does not cover medical services cost, Visas, pocket money, free/leisure activities and other personal expenses.
- Pick up from meeting point to the orientation:
5 Euro (Applicable only for those who are picked at the meeting point and not from the airport).
- Airport Pick up/Drop off:
20 Euro (Optional, and if this service is needed inform the organization seven days before the arrival date for arrangements). One way trip from the orientation to the community: 15Euro
Education is the foundation for peace, solidarity and sustainable development. It is a key instrument for bringing about positive changes in values, attitudes, skills, behavior and knowledge. This project is organized in collaboration with the local community School to address the need of improving the school environment. The physical conditions of the school structures are not appropriate for teaching and learning. Walls and roof requires some maintenance and painting. It expected that; improvement of these structures will increase performance of students as well increase motivation for staff members to work.
Activities:
Volunteers are expected to work for about six hours a day and will be involved in the following activities at the school compound.
- Painting of class rooms walls and roof - Tree planting and shrubs around the school - Assisting students with some subjects like Mathematics, English etc. (Depending on the skills/knowledge of the individual volunteer)
Optional - Organizing sports, games and fun activities with students/ Youth in the community.
Study theme:
Education & Culture; In the afternoon various workshops related to development will be organized including visits. Volunteers are encouraged to be prepared and participate.

Volunteers should expect to share rooms 3-4 volunteers and mattress will be laid down on the floor. There will be running water and electricity.
