TYCEN sees sports as an ideal mechanism to connect and engage youths, especially girls. The “sports for social change” initiative is a pioneering program that uses the convening power of sports as a vehicle to minimize the effects of poverty and social injustice on marginalized youth and the young adult population around the world. Sports such as traditional games, football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, dance, etc are an enabler and time occupier for otherwise idle youth. This program is going to use the best values of sports as vehicles for leadership development, empowerment, bridging gender inequalities, improving education success, enhancing economic opportunities and social inclusion of marginalized groups including girls and youth with disabilities. These values include team work, respect, decision making, volunteering, integrity, self esteem, conflict resolution and communication as vital life skills.
