Shimba Hills Forest Guides Association is a group comprising of 30 local youths who have come together to support eco-tourism in the Shimba hills national reserve. The group is involved in guiding tourists through the reserve in addition to other environmental conservation activities. Mission - to actively participate in conservation endeavors of the Shimba Hills and to sensitize the locals on the benefits of the reserve. Vision - To have a conservation conscious community
Project activities:
Tour guiding in the Shimba Hills National Reserve and also the SHIFOGA Forest Nature Trail; Tree planting and the ongoing maintenance of tree nurseries; Management and maintenance of the local sanitation program (public toilet); Bee keeping and butterfly farming; Creation and continuity of school education programs.
Volunteer tasks:
Internships, volunteering and research placements are seen as an important part of the group’s strategy for continued growth. New volunteers bring with them a different outlook and perspective, as well as knowledge base, which is invaluable to the continued learning and education of the group and its members.

Life Link Youth Group was established with the local youth to champion the needs of the youth and thus enable them to actively participate in community development initiatives. The group is aimed at developing a sustainable community using the available resources in the local community for social, economic and physical development skills to create employment opportunities. This thus is aimed at resulting into community development initiatives in the area thus reducing the social evil activities among the youth generation.
The group aims at erasing criminal offences among the youth; the utilization of locally available resources and talents in enhancing the development process. Through the activities of the project it is aimed that the literacy levels of community members especially the school children will be increases. The group also champions to ensure the realization of children rights and empowering the youth to participate in development activities that are able to up the living standards in the local community.

Volunteer tasks:
Landscaping and tree planting to enhance the environmental sustainability of the local community; Construction; Teaching at the local primary school by supporting the educational growth of the school children to enhance the interaction of volunteers with the children; Awareness creation performing arts/Women empowerment/HIV & AIDS/Drug abuse; Youth empowerment / Talent Development; Forums with Orphans and Street Children (feeding programs, games and performing arts).

Sacred Mijikenda Kaya forest is one of the projects of Kenya Voluntary Development Association under World Heritage Volunteers. It is found at the coast of Kenya, Kwale County, Musabweni constituency and in Kinondo location. This is found within two communities Mgwani and Chale. Kaya means home and Mijikenda means nine sub-tribes. The sub-tribes are Digo, Giriama, Duruma, Ribe, Kambe, Chonyi, Jibani, Kauma, and Rabai. It is one of eco-tourism center at the coast. This was started to preserve, protect and promote the cultural aspect of Digo community. This project is managed by a community based organization called Kaya Kinondo ecotourism project. Ngalahani sacred forest is another name for kaya Kinondo sacred forest.

Volunteer tasks:
The volunteers will be assigned the following duties:
assessing the credit demand and supply within a particular focus; Computerizing the accounting system used; Research on bank regulation, reports; Conservation activities within the forest; Analysis of book-keeping records.

Kaya Teleza Conservation Group was formed by local community members towards the end of 20011. The formation was based on the abuse of the only natural resource in the area, the Kaya forest. Poaching of bush animals and illegally, uncontrolled cutting of trees was on the rise. The aim of forming this group was to collaborate with the Kaya elders together with other conservational institutions to help in protecting the sacred forest and its inhabitants. The group has also initiated agro-business, planting vegetables to support members financially who consist mostly youth, due to increase of high rate of unemployment in the local community. Its mission is to encourage the local people to come together to engage in conservation projects to reduce poverty among community members hence promotion of community development. Its main objectives are to conserve the Kaya teleze as a national monument and traditional forest; Create job opportunities for the youth; Elevate poverty and idleness from the school leaving youths; Improve living standards of the community at large through community development projects; Create awareness on the importance of conserving Kaya Teleza to the community.
