Volunteers will be taking care of maintenance of the rooms in Villa Bona, a wonderful historical villa of the 18th century surrounded by a big park, situated in Carignano. The work will include: the decoration of the walls, doors and windows; cleaning of the staircase and the wrought iron railings; cleaning the garden of the Villa. There will be also some maintenance work on wooden doors of the main church (Duomo di Carignano) built on 1757. Moreover the volunteers will make some gardening work in a club, called Barbo Merenderos , near the river Po and also restoring activities of some typical boat (barca a punta) that belong to that association. In June and some days of July, volunteers also will work with children (from 6 to 13 years old) in the summer camp of the village. For an amazing experience of exchange they could talk about their countries and also teach to the children typical songs or dances. The restoration of Villa Bona is being finalized to use the villa for public events by the committee and local organizations.
Accomodation & food:
In a building with beds, communal bathrooms with showers and hot water and a kitchen. Bedrooms are provided with 4 to 6 beds per room. The volunteers are responsible for the cleaning and cooking. The organisation covers the cost of the meals and also the materials for the work. Volunteers must be equipped with a sleeping bag (or sheets), pillowcase and towels.

The town of Carignano (8700 inhabitants) is situated on the left bank of the river Po approximately 20 Km from Torino and within the Regional Parco Fluviale (park of the river). Its centre is of typical piemontese style, characterized by an ancient core with medieval archways and a baroque cathedral. The towns surroundings offer sites of architectural and naturalistic interest, it is also possible to reach Torino easily, as there are frequent coaches to the city. During the free time there are many exciting things to do such as visit the open market of Carignano and take part in some local events. On the weekends it will be possible for the group to organise a visit to Turin (there is a bus to and from Turin), visiting the Egyptian museum, the cinema museum, MAO museum of oriental art, the Holy Shroud etc. The costs of the FREE TIMES activities are not covered by the project.

PROJECT: Pian di Spagna is a rural area in which there is a problem with garbage brought up by the river. It is a reservation in which some garbage tends to be brought up by the wind and it is often problematic to reach all the waste by foot. Therefore, volunteers will be given the task of retrieving all the waste stuck in that area, by boat and also partly by foot. Since it is a very important area also environmentally speaking, the more people are willing to help us take care of it, the better. Anyone represent a precious help for this magnificent natural area in the North of Italy. LEGAMBIENTE LOCAL GROUP: Our Legambiente local group is made up of young and dinamic people, mostly under 30. The president himself is under 30 as well. The main activity of this Legambiente group is the management of an hostel; moreover, it has campaigned against food waste and for the correct waste management. LOCATION AND LEISURE: This is a very important oasis located where Valchiavenna meets Valtellina, creating the basin of Lake Como. Here arises a large flat wetland, in a majestic and spectacular natural theater of crucial ornithological value, under the first spurs of the Alps Lepontine and Retiche. The Pian di Spagna is located exactly on a trajectory of migrating birds which find shelter and food there, among the thick marsh vegetation, just before and after the strenuous crossing of the Alps. In addition to birds WORK: Volunteers will retrieve garbage stuck in that area of the lake on a small boat, and also beside the road that goes through the park. Beside that, they will have to paint the benches and signs, and mow in the area of pathways.These tasks will be fundamental to obtain a cleaner and even more beautiful natural habitat, which is what we expect from these interventions. The work will be done in a confiscated land managed by the organization I Girasoli . Volunteers will support local volunteers and young people from community centre to almonds harvest, pruning, wood harvest, create a fence. Also, they will contribute to the renovation of the accommodation where they will live.
Accomodation & food:
The accommodation is a rural house into the countryside that need to have some work done. It is very old, basic and spartan. Volunteers will sleep in inflated matresses on the floor. There is as well the possibility to sleep in tents outdoor i all around is like countryside asset -. There will be fire for cooking only. Electricity is available. The accommodation is at 10mt far away from the almonds field. No internet.

Requirements:
Willing to manual work. To adapt to very basic living conditions.
Volunteers will support the teachers and the parents of the pupils in the manual work needed before the start of the school year. Main work will be maintenance of garden and classroom, including painting, arrange the play area for kids, repair desks, etc.
Accomodation & food:
Accommodation in the school. Volunteers will sleep in inflated matresses in classroom and they will use solar shower. Lunch together with teachers and dinners self-prepared by volunteers with provided food. A kitchen is available for volunteers.
Location & leisure:
The school is not far from the city centre. Volunteers can join social and cultural life of the city.
