For several years now the city of Clermont-Ferrand has elaborated participative projects in cooperation with the local population. This project is a partnership between the Association du Centre de Beaumotte and the Association « Le Lieu » who are professional in the Theater of the Oppressed ( Augusto Boal technique) . As this is our goal we work mainly with the youth as a team together for an effective education. The methods of the Theatre of the Oppressed were developed by Augusto Boal in Latin America in the 1970's. His goal was to draw visibility to social and political conflicts by giving a voice to marginalizedgroups who were facing oppression under totalitarian regimes of the time . We wish through this project to give teenagers the opportunity to stage their difficulties, their fights and their doubts in order to find solutions to european difficulties. A final show, in front of the villagers, will be planned.
Accomodation & food:
Participants will be accommodated at the centre of the village, in the town hall. The place tosleep is a common room with camp beds. They will sleep in collectivity on campbeds (girls andboys separated). There will be available bathroom and kitchen. Because of the situation (in a rural area) WIFI access will be limited. Everybody will take part in the collective life: making of the meals, cleaning and preparing activities for the night.
Location & leisure:
In a dynamic of popular and non-formal education, you will be able "to make and to live together" and each one of you will be responsible for the daily life of the group.
This tool is very important for a real encounter:
youngsters will elaborate their own menus, cook in groups, do the cleaning, and organize their activities. The exchanges at cooking time, the household, and the leisure activities will be the base of interculturality of this project.
The teenagers will be engaged with the local citizens collective, who manage a local chestnut grove. The specific nature of the work has not been determined yet, since it is the spring weather that will determine the needs for this summer. However, it is decided that the participants will work in preserving the natural resources of the area and enhance the local environment.
Accomodation & food:
The workcamp will take place in a very remote area, where they will be hosted in camping tents. Kitchen, shower and toilet will also be equipped in a camping abode, but the participants will have access to a sanitary block (toilet and shower) in a nearby building. Moreover, if the weather is not agreeable for camping, there is a building just hundreds of meters away to seek shelter. As it has been said before, this remote area is located in a very beautiful landscape, and will offer each participant quite a unique panorama every morning!
Location & leisure:
Location: The participants will camp next to Le Relais Bistro de l'Espinas, in the rural area of Ventalon en Cévènnes.
Leisure activities:
As the workcamp will take place in a remote area, most of the leisure activity will consist of discovering the natural wonders of the area, taking hikes in the mountains, sharing daily life with the local inhabitants, and more generally basking in the generous surrounding. Transportation will be possible to further discover the areas and organize leisure activities.
The landscaping and creation of the fragrant and educational gardens around St Pons Church have not started yet. Also, the main objective of the site will be to facilitate access to the site by clearing and disbursing stones to allow a safe passage. Depending on the progress of the work, other tasks may be proposed to the group as well.
